Program Overview
The Career Foundations Program is AAD’s professional development program, specifically tailored to the needs of underserved, first and second year, Pan Asian American undergraduates – those that don’t have preexisting networks and job market support infrastructure. We believe that the first two years of a student’s college experience are a critical time to catalyze their professional development and career readiness prior to entering the workplace. However, we welcome students from all class years to participate in this program as our overarching goal is to help underserved students achieve their professional goals.
The Career Foundations Program is centered around 4 foundational pillars: cultural training, professional development, industry mentorship & exposure, and the classics (resume, cover letter, interview). Through our programming, we seek to increase students’ confidence in their abilities, knowledge, and skills to achieve their career aspirations and increase their proficiency in the 8 career readiness competencies: professionalism, communication, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, digital technology, career management, and global/intercultural fluency.
This program is curated, facilitated, and led by Pan Asian Americans for Pan Asian Americans. If you are a student who is aiming to build the foundations for your career, then this is the program for you! The first three quarters of 2023 in February, May, and August will each include a total of 4 workshops/panels that are based off of our 4 foundational pillars.

Program Participant Testimonials
AAD gave me the confidence I didn't have before to dive deeper into business/professional fields as a minority. The global economy as a whole can be very intimidating for Asians as it was not tailored to include us, but AAD gave me hope and motivation to keep pushing until I reach my goals. With AAD mentors at my side, I'm ready for anything the business field will throw at me. The entire program was inspiring and I really needed to know people like me that came before have faced the same problems I am but came out successful. |
All the people from the AAD were amazingly-driven people who are willing to give up their time to help AANHPI communities. The workshops and presentations were very insightful and the mentorship is very much needed for many of us who are lost in which direction and path to take. To have someone who is experienced and supportive will make a tremendous difference in the lives of students that have the desire to learn. Thank you so much. |
This program has helped me improve more skills in time management, communication, and teamwork. Having each meeting with my mentors has helped me adapt and feel more confident in my work and being able to communicate better with peers in class. I feel that working with my mentors has been super helpful in where I am at right now and helping me pursue what short-term goals I have as well as thinking about future long-term goals.
