Who is the First Asian American in the US Currency? – Anna May Wong and her Asian American dream

On October 24th, 2022, Anna May Wong (January 3, 1905 - February 3, 1961) became the first Asian American to appear on the US quarter coin. She was also the first Chinese American film star in Hollywood.

Minghuang received Honorable Mention for the Ruth and Burt Schlesinger Award of Poetry, sponsored by the 92NY Christopher Lightfoot Walker Literature Project in 2019.

Sylvia Yang

Sylvia is a Taiwanese/Singaporean who came to the U.S. to study at Skidmore College. She graduated in May 2022 with a B.A. in Psychology and English and a minor in Business & Management. She enjoys studying existential psychology and loves doing thought experiments with a yummy latte in hand. Ultimately, Sylvia strives to curate a type of inner peace and gratitude that leaves her tranquil even within the chaos of life.
